The Meskwaki Warrior Cross Country Team’s 2015 Season

The Meskwaki Warrior Cross Country team enjoyed a fun and rewarding season.

The Varsity boy’s team consisted of Noah Seymour, Miko Youngbear and Tanner Garcia. The Varsity girl’s team consisted of Marci Guevera, Delicia Guevera, Rosie Youngbear and Kredence Clark. JV runners for the Warriors were Elleh Driscoll and Eleina Rivera.

The Junior High Cross Country team had four runners this year.Starting with Taurice Grant, Micah Youngbear, Jacob Kapayou and Isisah Hill on the boys team. The girls team consisted on one talented runner Payton Tahahwah.

The Teams competed in 10 meets this season with medals and ribbons won at many meets. When running at the BGM Invite, the Warriors came home with 7 medals in one meet! The girls Varsity team collected a first for the Warriors Cross Country program. In the Iowa Star Conference, team score consists of 4 runners. The team of Marci Guevera, Delicia Guevera, Rosie Youngbear, and Kredence Clark scored 126 points giving them a 6th place finish in the Iowa Star Conference!! Congratulations to a job well done! . Freshman Varsity runner Noah Seymour had an outstanding conference run placing 19th for the Warriors.

The final meet of the season for the Junior High team was the Iowa Star Conference meet held in Waverly at the Wartburg Cross Country Complex on Thursday October 15th,Taurice Grant received 4th team All- Conference honors placing 4th in his event earning a conference ribbon. Taurice also received top 10 All- Conference team recognition at the end of the evening..

Payton Tahahwah placed 4th in her race, giving her the right to stand on the podium with the honors of 4th team All- conference.. giving her top 10 All- Conference team recognition.

The Varsity teams ended their season at the State Regional/District meet held in Cedar Falls at Birdsall Park on Oct 22nd.

Coach Tracy Sienknecht said the season had some very memorable moments for the 2015 Cross Country team. Everyone but 2 seniors will return next year, we will be a team with experience. We will be competitive in our conference and surrounding meets. The future looks exciting for the Meskwaki Warriors Cross Country team.
