Williamsburg tops South Tama in conference action

South Tama hosted the Williamsburg Raiders (7-7) for WaMaC West conference play on Tuesday, September 15.

Starting for the Trojans were Madie Bacon, Serena Lowe, Kaitlin Berger, Natalie Stadler, Dani Stubbs and Abby Llewellyn.

Starting for Williamsburg were Caley Courtney, Brittni Gilbert, Moly Wejen, Emily Simmons, Jazzmyn Newman and Mickala Stallman.

The Trojans came into the night strong out of the gate in the first set. The score showed a lot of back and forth but ultimately the Raiders pulled out a 26-24 win.

Senior captain Natalie Stadler started the Trojans out strong in the second set. Stadler served to a 3-0 lead but the Raiders made a quick comeback. STC dropped the second set 25-19.

The Trojans continued to seek a rhythm while the Raiders found theirs in the third set. Williamsburg’s Mickala Stallman served for a whopping 10 points for the Raiders, which gave them a 14-4 lead. The Raiders were able to use that momentum to really dominate the court from that point on. Williamsburg capped off the evening with a third win of 25-13.

South Tama’s Dani Stubbs had a stellar night off the attack with 15/29. She was also 13/13 with serves, which included two aces.

The Trojans will be on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 22 to Independence for more conference action.
