The Boy Scouts?

April 19, 2017
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

A news release issued on April 12 by the Boy Scouts of America - Hawkeye Area Council announces a Pinewood Derby.

A traditional Boy Scout event?

Well, this one is being held at the Iowa Brewing Company.

And, it costs $50 to attend. (But that includes two drink tickets.)

The news release goes on to say "During this event, no rules apply and cheating is suggested."

All proceeds for this event will help support the Boy Scouts of the Hawkeye Area Council which serves over 5,665 youth in Benton, Linn, Jones, Iowa, Johnson, Cedar, and Washington counties in Iowa. The Council, supported by 2,018 volunteers, is headquartered in Cedar Rapids.

Fact Box

Boy Scout Oath:

On my honor, I will do my best

To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;

To help other people at all times;

To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Booze and cheating - the Boy Scout way?
