AMES- Aug. 5, 2014 The Iowa Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting Tuesday, Aug. 19, to discuss the design details and right of way impacts for the proposed reconstruction of U.S. 63 in Waterloo from Jefferson Street to Franklin Street and of Franklin Street from just west of Mullan Avenue to just east of East First Street.
Through traffic on U.S. 63 would be detoured during construction using U.S. 218, Broadway Street, Airport Boulevard, and Airline Highway. During reconstruction of Franklin Street traffic would be detoured using Park Avenue, Lafayette Street and Park Road.
The paved trail system extending through the project area and underneath the U.S. 63 bridges on both the north and south banks of the Cedar River may need to be temporarily closed during construction. For more information, see the website listed below.
All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. in the Schoitz River Room 1 at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial St., in Waterloo. The meeting will be conducted utilizing an open forum format. Iowa DOT staff will be present to informally discuss the proposed improvement. No formal presentation will be made.
