Reauthorization meetings set for Ike’s Tract

February 18, 2014
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

The Izaak Walton Shooting Facility (aka Ike's Tract) located 2.5 miles west of Toledo reopened on August 3, 2012, under new rules and regulations.

Since the reopening area shooters have shown a renewed interest in the facility. During 2013 there were over 135 shooters authorized to use the facility.

Shooters that attended a site specific presentation, signed a responsibility agreement, and paid their user fees were authorized to shoot at the facility through December 31, 2013.

It is now time to for those shooters to get reauthorized to keep shooting at the facility.

Two REAUTHORIZATION MEETINGS are scheduled providing a quick and easy process for shooters authorized to use the facility during 2013 to get back on board for the current season. NOTE: A signup session for new shooters at the facility will be held at a later date. These meetings are ONLY for shooters that were authorized to shoot during 2013.

The two dates are Thursday, February 20 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and on Sunday, February 23 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m..

The meetings will be held in the Tama County Nature Center at Otter Creek Lake and Park in central Tama County.

Turn in their old key from 2013. A $5 charge will be assessed if the key has been lost.

Sign a new range use agreement form.

Pay the user fee of $50 which allows the shooter to use the range through December 31, 2015.

Be issued a new range use card and gate key

The goal for the Izaak Walton Shooting Facility is to provide a facility true to its original intended use and is a safe and neighborhood friendly facility where responsible shooters can hone skills and share the joys and challenges of safe shooting sports with our youth while developing skills for hunting.
