REINBECK - South Tama's Brad Evans scored seven times better than his season average to pour in a game-high 24 points, but it was not enough to lead the West Division to a comeback victory in Friday's North Iowa Cedar League Senior All-Star game at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School.

Evans made six 3-pointers on his way to scoring twice as many points as in any game this season for the Trojans. He was named the West Division team's MVP, but Hudson's Isaiah Rustad hit a floater in the lane with 12 seconds left to break a tie and give the East Division a 100-98 triumph.

Dike-New Hartford center Sean Morgan scored 18 points to earn East Division MVP honors, while Aplington-Parkersburg center Dakota Cox was voted champion of the dunk contest. Union Community's Aaron Haas, who made five 3-pointers during the regular season, shot 7-of-10 from beyond the arc to win the boys' 3-point shooting contest.

AGWSR senior Josh Bagley contributed 20 points for the West boys, and South Tama's Jose Fonseca chipped in 16. Gladbrook-Reinbeck's Jacob Smoldt added 12.

A-P's Aaron Van Dyk was the only other double-digit scorer for the East squad, netting 10 points.

The East Division girls were 55-38 winners over the West, though the East got three players from the West squadron to help the cause. Gladbrook-Reinbeck's three seniors - Erin Wentzien, Taylor Flamme and Emily Snider - slid over to the other side to help balance out the teams.

Lindsey Kite of Jesup scored a game-high 15 points to lead the East to victory, but the co-MVP honors went to Sam Barz of Union and Haleigh Hempen of Aplington-Parkersburg. Barz tallied 12 points and Hempen had nine.

Wentzien scored nine points as well for the East team, Snider had four and Flamme two.

The West Division squad was led by West Marshall's Sydney Beals with eight points, while Kristen Zacharias and Jayne Wiarda of AGWSR and South Hardin's Sabrina DeHerrera chipped in six points apiece.

Beals and Zacharias shared West Division co-MVP honors, and Beals also won the 3-point shooting contest. The West Marshall senior shot 1-for-2 during the regular season but was 7-for-10 from long range to win the halftime contest comfortably.
