Tama-Toledo has been selected by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Iowa Association of Regional Councils of Government (IARC) to participate in a community planning process that will result in an award of IDPH grant funds for projects that support the community's efforts in nutrition, physical activity, Tama County Public Health & Home Care office and other endevors.Grant funds in the amount of $9,500 will be awarded to assist the community in completing projects that support the IDPH Healthy Community program.
The first step is to convene a committee that will consist of businesses, community members, schools, city mayors or council members and other health agencies and providers. The committee will then complete a planning activity called "asset mapping".
Tama County Public Health & Home Care is requesting participation of representatives for any interested party in this program to attend the initial committee meeting to be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. at the Tama County Public Health & Home Care office, 129 West High Street in Toledo. Drinks will be provided for anyone wanting to bring their own sack lunch.
