Loras Ann Dvorak, 63, formerly of Irving, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the Brooklyn Community Estates Nursing Center in Brooklyn, Iowa, following a lingering illness. She was under the care of Hospice Compassus.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, and services will be at 11 a.m. at the Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, by the Rev. John Dodds. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Vining.
Loras was born Feb. 26, 1949, in Belle Plaine to Charles and Mayme (Blaha) Dvorak. She attended country school at Irving independent School through 6th grade then attended school in the Belle Plaine School District, graduating with the Class of 1968.
Loras never married. She enjoyed eating out and going places. Loras enjoyed bus tours, taking trips to a few places. She flew to Florida with a couple of her girlfriends. and, she always took her camera. She loved to take pictures of everybody and everything. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Brooklyn.
Loras had a lot of health problems and, in 1981, had a kidney transplant. Even with a lot of problems with her health (her kidney lasted 31 years) she tolerated a lot of trips to doctor offices and hospitals. her kidney started to decline this year and steadily failed.
Loras is survived by siblings: one brother, Gary Dvorak, Belle Plaine; five sisters, Vicki Dvorak, North Liberty, Railene (Chuck) Posekony, Beverly (Pat) Douglas, Beckie (Jim) Clementi and Connie (Craig) Hill, all of Brooklyn, nine nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two nieces, Tammy Posekony and Jeanne Douglas.
