William “Willy” Konicek

William "Willy" Konicek, 69, Traer, died in an airplane accident near Clutier on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012. There is private family graveside and military rites at the Oneida Cemetery rural Clutier. There will a guest book signing at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer on Monday, Dec. 3, from 4-7 p.m. The family will not be present.

Willy" Arthur Konicek was born Aug. 28, 194,3 at Clutier, son of William James and Ruth (Hess) Konicek. He received his education in Clutier and later graduated from Traer High School in 1962. He then worked for Wiecks Feed and Livestock in Clutier and in 1964 entered the United States Air Force, serving in the Viet Nam War in 1967-68.

Willy's love was flying and enjoyed building his own airplanes. He was a member of the Clutier American Legion, Clutier Fire Department and Clutier Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Lorraine Byrne. He is survived by his three children Kelly (Kirk) Fink and James Konicek and his fianc Mary Schesselman all of Clutier and Lori Tyler of Des Moines, IA, five grandchildren Ashley, Aaron, Amber, Joshua and Macy, one sister Diane (William) Vesey of Marion, and his ex-wife and best friend, Jean Konicek of Clutier.
