Evangelist Leona Thomas will have meetings at the Tama Civic Center, where she will be singing with her accordion, Q Chord, and the piano, and preaching the Word of God on Friday and Saturday nights, Oct. 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. On Saturday evening there will also be food and fellowship at 5 p.m.
On Friday night, Oct, 12 the Seymour brothers, along with their mother, the former Patsy Blocker, will be providing special music. On Saturday night special music will be provided by "Storm" Seymour and his children.
Leona was a member of the Tama High School graduating class of 1953. However, she, along with her brother, Dennis, accompanied their parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Leo Thomas, missionaries to the Meskwaki people, and began traveling as nation wide evangelists in December of 1952. Leona traveled as an evangelist for twenty-five years. She also graduated from Open Bible College in Des Moines in 1958. Leona makes her home in Los Angeles, and continues to travel across the country to Pennsylvania and back in ministry every year.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, Leona will be singing and preaching at the Tama Assembly Of God Church on State Street at the 10:30 a.m., and 6 p.m. services. Everyone is invited to attend any or all of these special gatherings.
