South Tama eighth graders take down Rebels

The South Tama Middle School eighth grade volleyball team recently hosted Gladbrook-Reinbeck at home.

The Trojans won five of the nine games played that night. The A-team won two of its three sets: 19-21, 21-17 and 21-10. Serena Lowe had six aces and one kill in the match.

McKenna Knock had one ace and two kills, while Allison Yuska and Lauren Yuska each had two ace serves. Abby Llewllyn had one ace, five kills, and one block. Kaitlin Berger had three aces. Sabrina Holtz had two aces, one kill, and set the ball up well to Llewllyn and Holtz for the kills. Brycelyn Haughey had 1 ace serve.

South Tama's B-team won all three of its games against the Rebels. STC won 21-13, 21-18 and 22-20.

Mallory Thede, Minnie Climber, Haughey and Autumn Papakee led the way with three aces apiece in the match. Papakee also added a block. Also contributing to the win was Nyana Eubanks, who had two aces. Analea Ordaz had one kill for STC and she was the tipper of the week with five tipped balls. Celia Roberts also had one kill for the Trojans.

The STC C-team lost its three sets: 21-5, 21-12 and 21-18. The Trojans improved as the match went on and almost won the final set. Alana Neave and Jade Baeza each had two aces for the Torjans. Alicia Guzman served one ace, while Jessica McFate had one kill.
