Curtis (Curt) Edward Winter

Curtis (Curt) Edward Winter, 59, of Tama, Iowa, passed away from MDS at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, surrounded by his family on November 14, 2015.

Curt worked as a general contractor for 20-plus years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He loved fishing with his grandkids and playing cards with family, especially cribbage. Woodworking and carpentry were two of Curt’s passions in life and he was always there to help family and friends with projects. He made many items from hand for his grandchildren that took him countless hours to create.

Curt is survived by his wife Cheryl (formerly Kopischke of 39 years from Tama, Iowa, son Corbin (Mellissa) Winter, of Waukee, Iowa, daughter Chura Potter of Tama, Iowa, Chad and his wife Keathen, of Gilbert, Iowa, and Collin and his wife, Dawn of Altoona, Iowa; parents Eldon and Verna Winter of Walnut, Iowa, brother Rod (Diane) Winter of Marshall, Minn., brother Tom (Julie) Winter of Sioux Center, Iowa, brother Ron (Lori) of Avoca, Iowa, 10 grandchildren (Kaitlyn, Cael, Carter, Braydan, Kylie, Avery, Madeline, Addison, Gabriel and Luke) who were the light of his life, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family,

Curt was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda.

Curt will be laid ot eternal rest at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 21, 2015, in south Branch Township, Minn. Should friends desire, sympathy cards may be sent to:
