Evelyn Storjohann

Evelyn Storjohann, 90, of Gladbrook, Iowa, passed away on April 15, 2015, in the presence of her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Peace United Church of Christ, in Gladbrook, Iowa. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Evelyn Ruth Storjohann was born on Aug. 12, 1924, at home in rural Tama County to Henry and Lillie (Hamann) Boege. She attended country school in rural Tama county. On December 6, 1944, she was united in marriage to Albert Storjohann and they made their home on the Storjohann family farm southeast of Gladbrook, Iowa, for 35 years, until their retirement. In 1978, Albert and Evelyn moved into their newly built home on the west side of Gladbrook, Iowa. Following Albert’s death in 1986, Evelyn continued to live in the house for several years. Then Evelyn eventually sold the house and moved to the Eastbrook Apartments and later settled in Westbrook Acres Nursing Home.

Evelyn was a life-long member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, Iowa, and she was the head of the lunch committee at the church for many years. She also was a member of the Fidelis Guild of the church, as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She belonged to several card clubs and also enjoyed bingo. Evelyn delivered Meals on

Wheels for 23 years and bowled on several leagues. She had a strong German heritage, which she was very proud of.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Judy (Randy) Welton, Grand-daughters; Andrea (Phil) Hunter, Stephanie (Lenny) Coulter, Lindsey (Ryan) Pippert, and her Great-grandchildren; Halle Hunter, Hayden Pippert and, Carson and Caiden Wobeter

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; Albert, her parents; Henry and Lillie, and her brother; Vernon Boege.
