Adeline Upah died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at the Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine by Deacon Joe Behounek. Casket bearers are Jim Thede, Gary Upah, Mike Upah, Keith Upah, Leif Morris and Corey Upah. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine where there will be a Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chelsea.

Adeline Anna Upah was born Nov. 17, 1918, in rural Chelsea, Iowa, to Frank and Mary Behounek Kubu. One of seven born to this household, she was no stranger to work, and following her education, she continued to help at home. Adeline met Floyd Upah, and they were married on Jan. 24, 1939, in Chelsea. She was a homemaker and later worked as a waitress. Floyd died July 29, 1990. Adeline has always called Chelsea home and only recently had moved to the Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama.

Adeline belonged to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Society, the Golden Girls, the Chelsea Bank Club, and the Kids Club. Her bright smile and positive attitude will be long remembered as inspiration to many for years to come.

Her survivors include her children, Ron (Lynne) Upah of Ord, Neb., Loretta McNeely of Keno, Ore/, Flossie (Bob) Pippert of Gladbrook, Tom (Ellen) Upah of Chelsea, and Mark Upah of Belle Plaine. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are both parents, two brothers, Leander and George; and four sisters, Martha, Mary, Helen, and Anna; a child, Beverly Morris; and two grandsons, Erik and Timothy Upah.
