Deloris R. Halverson

Deloris R. Halverson, 86, of Iowa City and formerly of Tama, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Deloris was born on April 30, 1928, in rural Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Harold Kenneth and Esther Leone (Boyer) Davis.

She graduated from Tama High School in 1946.

On June 12, 1952, she was united in marriage to Virgil Duane Halverson in Toledo, Iowa. They had farmed and had a boat and RV business in Tama in the 90’s. Deloris was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, camping and getting together with her friends from high school to play cards.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Wanda) Halverson of Iowa City and Gary (Jean) Halverson of Grinnell; one daughter, Carol Thompson of Rock Island, IL; her grandchildren, Jamie and Greydon Halverson, Justin and Jason Halverson, Jessica Renaud and Kaley Thompson; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Duane in 2005; one son, Dean in infancy; and one brother, Lowell Davis.

A memorial fund has been established.
