John J. Lynch

John J. Lynch, 65, of Tama, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at his home. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 9 – 10 a.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

John was born on February 14, 1949, in Albia, Iowa, the son of John F. and

Winifred (Coughlin) Lynch. He grew up on a farm near Georgetown, Iowa.

John graduated from Albia Community High School in 1967. He then attended the University of Chicago and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Pharmacy Degree. John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

John was an avid fan of University of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. He especially liked talking to Winnie and Tom during the football and basketball games. He also enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes and mushroom hunting in the spring.

Survivors include five siblings, Mary Ann (Larry) Fahrenkrug of Davenport, Kathryn “Kay” (Daryl) Allison of Cedar Rapids, Thomas “Tom” Lynch of Albia, Winifred “Winnie” (Richard Fowler) Haney of Tama and Michael “Mike” (Terri) Lynch of Danville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Helen Marie Lynch and Shirley Livengood; and one brother, William “Bill” Lynch.

A memorial fund has been established.
