One of the important team members of the home care staff at Tama County Public Health and Home Care include the homemaker-home health aides.

These employees go into clients homes and assist them with meal preparation, meal planning, essential errands or grocery shopping, dusting of furniture, sweeping, cleaning floors, vacuuming, emptying garbage, changing/making the bed, cleaning appliances, washing dishes, and cleaning the bathroom.

Home Health Aide services include assisting with bathing, shampooing hair, nail care, skin care, assisting with dressing, mouth care, shaving, weight management or other services as needed. These staff help clients stay in their homes longer and assist them to be able to continue doing their normal daily activities.

In order to become a Home Care Aide, staff have to complete their Certified Nursing Aide certification and twelve continuous hours of education each year.

“We are proud to have these members as part of our team and be able to provide these services in Tama County. It’s an honor to celebrate their work during National Home Care Aide Week”, TCPH Executive Director Shannon Zoffka said.
