Tama County Board of Health issues statement ahead of Thanksgiving

The Tama County Board of Health released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding mitigation strategies during COVID-19.

The Tama County Board of Health STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that all Tama County residents and visitors wear a face mask when in public and maintain a six (6) foot distance from others. The Board of Health’s mission is to protect the health of Tama County.

Mitigation strategies include wearing face masks to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people over the age of 2 wear face masks in public settings and when social distancing is difficult to maintain. The Tama County Board of Health (BOH) makes the following recommendations for citizens and visitors in Tama County:

•Wear a face mask

•Social distance (6 feet away from others)

•Limit social gatherings

•Stay home when you are sick or exposed to COVID-19

•Wash your hands frequently

•Clean commonly used surfaces regularly

•Get your flu shot

We ask you to please come together as a community to ensure our healthcare resources can continue to provide quality care to Tama County. Without practicing mitigation strategies, the upward trend of positive cases will continue.

The wearing of a face mask is one way we can help keep our local businesses and schools open. The wearing of a face mask protects you, other people and the entire community. Please do your part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Tama County.
