Adam Damman is the new mayor in Montour. Damman was appointed Wednesday, September 9 following the resignation of Ben Little.

Little resigned effective September 1 due to family and personal health reasons. His term began January 1.

Damman will serve as mayor until the next general election. Also on the ballot will be two council seats.

Three Montour citizens expressed interest in the mayor position including Damman, Jim Griggs and Vicky Garske.

Griggs was not present at the meeting Sept. 9.

“I like to think that I run down the middle. That I don’t choose favorites. I try to represent everyone in the community as fairly as possible. I try to remove myself from any emotional entanglement. Another reason I want this position is to try and reduce chaos. If we go through three mayors in a short period of time it’s going to cause a lot of disruption. It will be less chaotic if I fill this position for the next year and two months until we have an actual election.” Damman said of why he wanted to be mayor.

Damman had been serving as a council member and mayor pro temp.

It was unanimously approved by the council to appoint Damman as mayor.

His now vacant council seat will be on the the October 1 agenda for approval to fill.

Then the seat will be filled in November assuming the council opts for appointing another member. If they choose not to appoint the will have to hold a special election.
