Sokol elected mayor, Boll, Cremeans win council seats

Running unopposed, Brian Sokol was elected Toledo mayor, 2nd Ward Council member Joe Boll was reelected, this time for an at-large seat and Jeremy Cremeans also won an at-large seat to replace Steve Vesely who did not seek reelection.

"I'm looking forward to serving as mayor for the next two years," Sokol said following the vote on Tuesday night. "The City has a great council and a great group of employees that I am proud to work with."

Incumbent Mayor John Lloyd did not seek reelection.

The Toledo mayor is elected to a two-year term.

Sokol currently occupies an at-large Toledo Council seat which will be filled either by appointment or special election after he takes office Jan. 1.

Boll was the last holdover from the Toledo ward system which voters chose to change to an all at-large council in 2017.
