Much added to Tama’s Oak Hill Cemetery

On Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m., the public is invited to attend an event to honor Rose Fowler. This event will be held at the shelter.

The drives at Oak Hill had crumbling cement and deep holes. The new drives are smooth, attractive, and also wider making it easier for vehicles to travel through the cemetery.

As a way of thanking Rose and memorializing her generosity, the drives will be marked permanently by this sign at the east entrance, " Rose Fowler Memorial Drives."

Rod Anderson installed the sign so that it would be in place before the event honoring Rose.

One of the most peaceful and beautiful places in Oak Hill Cemetery is the area in the new section that is a remembrance of Irene Shayer. The oak tree provides shade for the two benches located there. Featured in this area is a beautiful statue of an angel.

The funding for this spot was provided by a donation to the cemetery by the Shayer family. Irene Shayer was a faithful and much-loved member of Oak Hill Cemetery Association for many years.

Irene's daughter, Chris McCune, has been responsible for creating this special place. It is the hope that people visiting loved ones resting at Oak Hill will have an attractive, quiet, and restful place to revisit their many memories.
