September 23, 2019
By Allison Graham - The News-Herald (agraham@tamatoledonews.com) , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Rent at MercyCare was on the council agenda at Monday's regular meeting. Present at the meeting were council members Kenny McAdoo, Doug Ray and Aaron Haughey, Mayor Mike Carnahan, City Attorney Dan Rathjen, City Clerk Alyssa Hoskey and Public Works Director John Lloyd.

The City of Tama and MercyCare have been in a contract since 2003. In those 16 years there has not been a rate increase. Hoskey brought up the issue citing concerns if something were to happen to the exterior of the building the city would be responsible.

Currently the rent is $1,800 a month. The city is responsible for the property taxes on the building which total $15,000. No final decisions were made.

Landscaping Around The Sign

Council discussed landscaping around the new sign in front of the Tama Civic Center. The decided to wait until spring to make any decisions on how to move forward.

Employee Handbook

The council approved the employee handbook which includes a new cell phone policy for employees. Council member, Kenny McAdoo, suggested implementing the use of a time clock for city employees. The suggestions is something Hoskey will look into.
