Join Tama County Women, Land & Legacy for an evening filled with lavender and alpacas during its upcoming event, "Summer Tour 2019: On the Hill." This event will be held on Monday, June 10 at On the Hill, 1499 58th Street in rural Garrison. Sue Hart and her family began growing lavender about ten years ago, and while production has fluctuated with the weather, Sue makes many lavender-based products including soaps, lotions and bath salts. The Hart family also raises alpacas. While Sue's not a knitter, she processes much of the alpaca fiber herself and spins, hand dyes and weaves it.

An RSVP is required by June 6 by phoning Mel at 641-484-2702, ext. 305 or by emailing her at Be sure to include your name and phone number.

This event is free and open to the general public, both women and men.

Tama County Women, Land & Legacy began in 2007, part of a statewide USDA outreach project. This is the group's 36th local event. Women, Land & Legacy is currently active in thirty Iowa counties and brings together Iowa women interested in agriculture, local food and natural resources to converse, listen and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities.

Persons needing accommodations to participate in this event should contact 641-484-2702, ext. 305, TDD# or Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339 or at least 48 hours prior to the event.
