"Light Up Marshallotwn" tornado relief fundraiser in Tama

April 5, 2019
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Letter to the Editor:

I am with the committee "Light Up Marshalltown." We are fundraising for the tornado recovery victims and those in need in Marshalltown. This will all be happening at the Tama Ballroom on Saturday, April 13th, located at 1411 E 5th St in Tama.

Starting at 10am we will be having a craft/vendor show, with many unique items, until 3pm, (there will be face painting, an Easter coloring contest for children 10 and younger, and a few surprises including some things to do with Easter) food vendors will be outside from 10-10pm, a Silent Auction will be going on from 10-10pm with all price ranges and items for all ages and genders.

Some of these items include: a 1 yr Planet Fitness membership, a one night stay in a fantasy suite room at Designers Inn, in Toledo, a box of Ribeye and Strip loins from Iowa Premium and too many other items to mention.

At 5pm there will be a $10 covercharge for the evening events. 100% of the covercharge, 100% of the silent auction, and all table fees after overhead expenses will go to the two Marshalltown nonprofits, which are MICA-Long term relief and the Salvation Army in Marshalltown. They will disburse the best way these people need.

Jake Simon has donated himself and his band to perform from 5pm-10pm. During that time we will be giving out free raffle prizes.

We will be having some donation buckets around, in case you would like to donate and arent able to stay.

You are more than welcome to contact any of the committee members with any questions you may have. If you would like to or volunteer or donate a coupon, voucher or an item, please contact one of us.Thank-you to all for their contributing in anyway they have. We will post a detailed list of donors, donations, money raised and volunteers as soon as we can after the event is over and we have the details.
