South Tama's Carter Kriegel has signed his Letter of Intent to play Baseball with the Cornell College Rams.

Last season Kriegel was named to the WaMaC All-Conference First Team list as a pitcher. He tied for starts for the Trojans with nine and closed out the season 4-4. He was also awarded with Academic All-Conference and was named to the 2nd team All-District list.

Kriegel chose Cornell because of their coaching staff and campus.

"I just felt like the coaching staff was relatable. The campus is great and the way their curriculum is set up is interesting to me and I think it will benefit me down the road," said Kriegel.

Kriegel plans to study Pre-Pharmacy while at Cornell. He plans to transfer to the University of Iowa after four years to further his career goals.

The Rams are coached by Head Coach Seth Wing, a Maquoketa native. He has directed the Rams to the Midwest Conference Tournament four times in the past five years, compiling 98 wins during the span. Wing has coached 21 all-conference performers and 11 all-region honorees since 2012.

"(I'm looking forward to) the atmosphere. I feel like that will be different from at high school and meeting new teammates. Just getting a feel for college athletics," said Kriegel.

Kriegel has been working on his baseball skills in the off season by utilizing the Tama County Training Facility in Tama.

Kriegel is the son of Lisa and Jason Kriegel of Tama.
