South Tama wrestling officially kicked off their season on Saturday, December 1 in Independence. The Trojans attended the Cliff Keen Invite where 37 teams, six from out of state all gathered for a two day event filled with lots of wrestling.

This year's South Tama team is welcoming in a new crop of athletes after the Trojans graduated a solid group of seniors from last years team including two time State Champ Isaac Judge and 2018 runner up Brady Fritz. Also making the podium at the 2018 State Tournament were Colton Vest who took 8th, Dalton Rosenburg 7th, and Tanner Probasco 3rd. The 2018 senior class will leave some large shoes to fill, but the Trojans are always up to the task.

Starting off the season at the Cliff Keen Invite is a good opportunity for the Trojans to see lots of competition. The tournament was set up in four different brackets gold, silver, bronze and copper and started on Friday evening with wrestling in pool style brackets that would help determine the final brackets on Saturday. South Tama's top finisher was senior Cael Kellogg (220) who took 6th at the tournament.
