Tis' The Season........NO NO NO...Not yet!!!

The Way I See it

December 3, 2017
By John Sheda , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

As I write this week's column, it is still November.

However as you read it, December will have arrived. I have a hard and fast, yet quite vague rule that the "official" Christmas season doesn't begin until December. Next week we shall begin a series of Christmas columns but not today!! Here's what you get today....

Do you remember the old Art Linkletter Show? He had a segment every so often, "Kids Say The Darnest Things" and not too long ago, I came across a few old, yet well known proverbs, that were presented to a class of third-graders.

The teacher presented each student with the first half of the proverb and challenged them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. While reading, keep in mind that these are from the pen of 8-year olds, because they are all cute but the last one is a classic...although a little sad to even see it said.

Don't change horses...until they stop.

Strike while the...bug is close.

It's always darkest before...Daylight Saving Time.

Never underestimate the power of...termites.

You can lead a horse to water but...how?

Don't bite the hand that...looks dirty.

No news is...impossible.

A miss is as good as a...mister.

If you lie down with dogs, you'll...stink.

You can't teach an old dog...new math.

The pen is mightier than the...pig.

An idle mind is...the best way to sleep.

Where there's smoke, there's...pollution.

A penny saved is...not much.

Two's company, three's...the Musketeers.

Don't put off till tomorrow what...you put on to go to bed.

Children should be seen and not...spanked or grounded.

If at first you don't succeed...buy new batteries.

When the blind lead the blind...get out of the way.

Love all, trust...me.

Better late than...pregnant.

Kids not only say the darnest things, they write them too. Let me know what you think at jsheda@indytel.com or call me at 319-327-4640. Have a great wee
