South Tama County volleyball is underway as official practice for the season began on Monday, August 7.

The Trojans will be coached this year by returning Varsity Head Coach Amy Dolash. Stan Upah will assist Dolash in his fourth year with the program while Michelle Bradley will lead the ninth and tenth grade teams. Bradley is the most veteran coach with the program as she has held the head coach position in years past. This will be Bradley's thirteenth season with the Trojan program. New to the program this year is volunteer coach Sarah Weiermann. "Although we're a newer group we bring a ton of experience and energy to the STC volleyball program," said Dolash.

Leading the team on the court will be seniors Abbie Parizek, Saylor Upah, Grace Jimenez, Sadie Smith, Izzie Morgan, and Kaylee Klostermann. "(They) are a great group, with excellent leadership, positive attitudes ready to take the WaMaC by storm this season," said Dolash.

Varsity returners include Parizek, Upah, Jimenez, Smith, Madison Rohach, Jaelin Berger, and Katie Campbell. "We're returning a lot of strength and experience to the team with this crew. They've all seen a lot of court time at the varsity level already and they've all worked hard in the off season to improve and come back ready to compete," said Dolash.

As of right now the team has around 30 girls out for volleyball. The numbers can of course fluctuate before the start of competition.

Some important dates include the Gator Bowl on Friday, August 18. "This will be the first opportunity to watch the girls showcase their skills and feel the energy in the Roundhouse," said Dolash. STC will travel to Grinnell for their season opener on Thursday, August 24. Their first home game will be a WaMaC contest against Center Point-Urbana on Tuesday, September 5. This night will also be Rising Star Night" where girls, grades 5th - 8th grade, can get in free to the game and take part in the warm-ups before the varsity match.
