Marcus John Fiedler

Marcus John Fiedler, 70, of Toledo, a proud United States Air Force veteran, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 18 from 10-11 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Cody, WY.

Marcus was born on December 15, 1946, in Mayetta, KS, the son of Martin and Margaret (Dilts) Fiedler. After high school, Marcus joined the United States Air Force and then served his country for over twenty-nine years. He liked watching John Wayne movies and westerns. In his later years, Marcus enjoyed daily trips to the Big-T Maid-Rite for coffee. He loved the beauty of Wyoming. Marcus was devoted to his faith and the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his children, Mary Jo (Doug) Cherveny of Toledo, and Armond (Sylena) Fiedler of Des Moines; grandchildren, Derek (Meghan) Cherveny, Danielle (Bryan Johnson) Cherveny, Destiny (Amanda) Cherveny, Daryn Cherveny, Caleb Fiedler, and Adalynne Fiedler; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Johnson, Madison Johnson, and Baby C due in August; brothers, Dave (Charlene) Fiedler of Holton, KS, Dan (Venita) Fiedler of Holton, KS, Bernard (Marge) Fiedler of St. Mary's, KS, and Bill (Virginia) Fiedler of St. Francis, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and grandson, Dylan Ryan Cherveny.

A memorial fund has been established.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
