Mary Angela (Polka) Van Nevel

Mary Angela Van Nevel, 57 of Loveland Colorado and formally of Tama and Belle Plaine passed away at McKee Medical Center in Loveland on June 9th 2017.

A celebration of life will be held in Angie's honor on June 23rd at the Tama American Legion from 4-7pm. Mary Angela the daughter of Paul and Doris (Brown) Polka was born on January 8th 1960 in Marshalltown Iowa.

She received her elementary education at St Pat's Catholic School and then graduated from STC With the class of 1978. She was employed at the Tama Toledo Country Club in Tama, and Grand Central Station in Belle Plaine. The family then moved to Colorado and she was employed at Paul Davis Restoration and Remodel in Fort Collins CO. where she was a supervisor. She was also employed with Molly Maids in Loveland CO. She was very energetic and very proud of all her accomplishments. She enjoyed spending time with her two sons, James and Josh Norton and their families, and her significant other and companion for many years, Dolan Shafer. She loved plants and gardening. She was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding and caring for the neighborhoods wild animals. She enjoyed driving through the Rocky Mountains with her family. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan. She enjoyed watching golf and playing video golf on playstation.

She is survived by her two sons James Norton of Denver Colorado, Josh (Elisha) Norton of Pierce Colorado, her companion and significant other Dolan Shafer of Loveland Colorado. Her father Paul Polka of Tama, Sister, Patti (Bob) Youngman of Tama, brothers, Mike (Lena) Polka, of New London Iowa, Dan (Teri) Polka of Tama, Bill (Brendi) Polka of Des Moines Iowa, Marty (Lori) Polka of Norwalk Iowa, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Preceding her in death were her mother Doris (Brown) Polka, her nephew Larry Hamor Jr. and her grandparents Frank and Mary Polka of Belle Plaine, and Jess and Mable Brown of Tama.
