Fisher to seek third term for Iowa House Dist. 72

February 10, 2016
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

State Rep. Dean Fisher (R-Garwin) announced he will seek re-election to the Iowa House in 2016 to represent District 72 for a third term. Fisher, first elected in 2012, represents all of Tama County and portions of Marshall and Black Hawk Counties.

"It's an honor to serve the people of District 72 and I will continue to be a strong advocate for our communities, lower government spending, and job creation," said Fisher.

During his tenure in the House, Dean has worked to reduce Iowans' taxes, rein in out of control government spending while funding Iowans priorities, and strengthening Iowa's economic climate. Fisher is committed to continuing his work in these areas.

"I have spent the past three years working to protect Iowans' pocketbooks against those in Des Moines who have an insatiable appetite for spending. I believe it's Iowan's money first, not the government's and I will do what I can to leave more of it back where it belongs, in the hands of the hardworking taxpayers," said Fisher. "We must create a business-friendly environment that will attract new industries and jobs to our state. It's important to give small businesses and entrepreneurs, the job creators of our state, the tools they need to succeed."

Upon graduation from South Tama High School, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology at the DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. After a successful career in the electronics industry, Dean returned to the family farm in 2004, joining his brother in managing the family's heritage farm.

Since being elected, Dean has supported local fire departments throughout his district by donating his unused legislative expenses, totaling more than $32,000 since 2013.

In the House, Dean serves as the Vice Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, and also sits on the Appropriations and Public Safety committees, as well as the Education budget subcommittee.
