Hughes asks Toledo Council's support for cancer treatment center

August 22, 2014
By Allison Graham - The Chronicle , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

CEO of Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, John Hughes was present at the Aug. 11 Toledo City Council meeting to discuss plans for a new cancer treatment center in Marshalltown as well as a new site for a cancer clinic in Toledo.

The new clinic in Toledo will be approximately 12,000 square feet. It will include primary care, outreach specialty care, expanded outpatient rehabilitation services, laboratory and x-ray, with the potential for advanced diagnostic imaging in the future.

Hughes visited the council seeking support for the project as he foresees protests from surrounding communities who already have operating treatment centers. Council members Joe Boll, Terry Goodhart, and Brian Sokol gave Hughes just what he was looking for. Resolution 2014 16R was passed unanimously by the council members present.
