Funeral services for Robert Dean Kratoska, 73, Chelsea, were Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at St. Micheal's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. He died at his home Mondy, Aug. 4, 2014, from cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, with military rites by the Belle Plaine American Legion Post No. 39.
Pallbearers were Jack Flatt, Marvin Grieder, Marvin Kucera, Mike Kolars, Jim Kolars and Chad Coburn. Honorary pallbearers were Lacey Jacobi, Jeffrey Jacobi, Dominic Homan, Eric Homan, Johnathan Kratoska, Dan Coburn, Joseph Kratoska and Roger Waterbeck.
Music was provided organist Pat Sauer and cantor Anna Upah.
Robert Dean Kratoska
Robert Dean Kratoska was born April 1, 1941, at Marshalltown, the son of Alfred and Agnes Hrstka Kratoska. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1959 and married Linda Brown July 22, 1967, in Chelsea at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was in the U.S. Army for six years and was a farmer, worked part-time at the sale barn, and retired in 2003 from working at the casino. He had previously lived near Vining before moving to his present home in 1975. He loved hunting, gardening, trap shooting, watching squirrels, NASCAR racing, football and watching and feeding birds.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, Chelsea; daughter, Kimberly (Travis) Jacobi, Chelsea; one brother, Ronald (Bette) Kratoska; one sister, Jane (Larry) Kolars; four grandchildren, Joseph, Eric, Lacey and Jeffrey and one great-grandchild, Dominic.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine was in charge of arrangements.
