Members of the Tama Fire Department and Toledo Fire Department along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will celebrate their 60-year partnership and kick off the fire fighters' annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Tama and Toledo area.
Tama and Toledo will kick off their Fill the Boot event's this Saturday, Aug. 9, at Fareway, Shopko, and Ace Hardware from 9 a.m.-noon.
Last year the Tama and Toledo Fire Departments raised $843 for MDA. You can help them surpass last year's total by taking a minute to drop a donation in their boot when you see them our collecting.
"Fire fighters in the Tama and Toledo area do more for MDA and the families we serve than any other group, dedicating countless hours of their time every year participating in Fill the Boot drives," said MDA Executive Director, Erin Steffen.
"We're grateful for the support of these inspiring, selfless individuals who have made a profound impact on our families' health, wellbeing and quality of life, and we're excited to make this year's Tama and Toledo Boot campaign the most successful yet."
This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the partnership between fire fighters and MDA in the fight against Muscle Disease.
