The City of Tama has announced it was recently awarded a $271,192 federal housing improvement grant through the Iowa Department of Economic Development. This project will assist at least eight current City of Tama homeowners with home improvements.
Qualified homeowners must reside west of Highwayy 63 and south of 13th Street Tama and must meet income guidelines.
The project will provide up to $24,999 of forgivable loans to qualified homeowners. The loans will be forgiven if the homeowner resides in the property for at least 5 years. Typical home improvement items will include insulation, replacement windows, replacement siding, roofing, gutters, painting, soffit/fascia covering, HVAC upgrades, and electrical upgrades.
The homeowner must reside in the house to qualify for the assistance and be within maximum income limits.
