Hats off to Chelsea's 150th celebration

Dear Editor,

We are writing to express our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all of the members of the Chelsea Community who came together to make the 150th Celebration a success.

The members of the 150th committee, led by Brian Balvin, did a wonderful job of coordinating the event by determining the schedule, mapping out locations, advertising, and creating a fun-filled day for everyone who attended.

The Chelsea Car Show, chaired by Aaron and Melissa Balvin, was the largest so far with more than 240 entrants. The History Book committee, chaired by Sheryl Chute, prepared a beautiful keepsake book to commemorate the early and recent history of our small, vibrant community.

St. Joseph's Catholic Church members were gracious in allowing many events to take place in and on their grounds, including hosting our community picnic on Friday night.

Chelsea United Methodist Church members also provided access to their grounds, a special worship service, and children's activities from the late 1800s.

The members of the Chelsea Community Club organized and hosted a tasty omelette breakfast and children's activities on their grounds, and beverage service throughout the day.

The members of Chelsea's Volunteer Fire Department worked to provide a lovely dinner and dance to finish the day of celebration.

Our local businesses were pleased to provide access to their facilities and grounds, as well as service throughout the day with all the great people who came to share in the celebration of our little town's 150 years.

Thank you to everyone who came to town to join our celebration. We met people who came from all over because their families were from Chelsea, because they wanted to participate in one of our events, or just because they wanted to celebrate with us.

We also want to acknowledge all the citizens of Chelsea for their efforts leading up to the 150th. Despite the flooding so close to our event, everyone spruced up their yards and got into the spirit of the event. A great time was had by all!

We wish that we could list all the individuals by name to express appreciation. Please know that your efforts in pulling together for this event were noticed. Thank you, Chelsea!
