July 26, 2014
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Dear Editor:

Three days of excitement, gain, and prosperity on August 7, 8, and 9th.

The Lincoln Highway Bridge Park and throughout all of the LH Route in Tama will be host to the annual Buy-Way garage sale.

Vendors, food stands, and music/entertainment will be at the Tama Lincoln Highway Bridge Park. The yard sale vendors, from individuals to non profit groups will be on hand to sell their wares. Food and Drink stands for your enjoyment Camping at King Tower, and entertainment at the VFW and American Legion on the route at night.

With only 10 % of the citizens in Tama-Toledo participating, during these days will create substantial economic impact in the area. This is what community is about, everyone coming together from the organizers to those people enjoying the events. For the great effort by the Lincoln Bridge Park beautification team, they only ask for your time in supporting their efforts.

Please plan to attend, drive the Lincoln Highway and see what the community has in store for this annual event. We hope for the Human Society to join in with special animal participation, the VFW showing their colors, and the American Legion honoring a fallen comrade. This is the spirit of the Lincoln Memorial Highway. All ideas and future support is sought as this annual event grows in the future.

It was but 100 years ago that the Tama Community from Chelsea to Montour, with the Meskwaki Nation, and Tama-Toledo along the way, as a selection for this Transcontinental highway. It was then a honor, The Nation beginning the annual PowWow tradition, and Tama with the Lincoln signature bridge. Everyone along the route found a reason to celebrate and participate in the excitement gain and prosperity of this All American Highway since its inception. We all should continue to show our dedicated support.

See you along the Bridge in Tama.

On the Lincoln Highway Bridge,

Allan Richards
