Letter to the Editor:
I would love to let your community know about the wonderful people at Thys Auto Dealership. I was driving from Cedar Rapids back home (Templeton, Iowa) on Monday, July 15 when my car started acting up. I was very stressed because I was driving a Suburban with 8 children.
We had just had a wonderful visit with their sister in Cedar Rapids. Our car limped along for several miles and we ended up breaking down in Toledo. Now for a normal family that might not have been so bad but I had nine people to figure out how to transport.
I don't think a tow truck could have taken many of us to safety. It was such a relief when we made it to the Jiffy gas station and asked were we should go for help. They directed me across the street to Thys Auto Dealership.
It was approximately 5:10pm when I arrived at the dealership. I asked if someone could help me. I had been in contact with my mechanic and he thought it was my fuel pump. The wonderful men were so kind and helpful.
I was so upset wondering how I would get my children home. We live over 130 miles away. It was an absolute blessing that Josh told me they could fix my car the next day and he gave me a suburban to drive my children home.
I am still shocked by this complete act of kindness. They knew nothing about me and handed over the keys to a beautiful suburban. The other shocker is they fixed my car (yes, it was the fuel pump) in under one day. I was able to return their car and pick up mine the very next day.
I am still shocked by how wonderful they all were.
I am so grateful and just wanted to let your community know about their kindness.
