As you drive by the Wieting Theatre this week, you will observe a lot of activity. Local students ages seven on up will be transformed into Rockets, Glaxonians, Scientists or Reporters while learning skills such as being comfortable in front of a crowd, vocal projection, stage direction, some technical aspects of theatre and how to cooperate and work as a team to put on a musical.
They will receive their instruction from three professional actors from the Old Creamery Theatre in Amana. Students will have the privilege of working with Katie Colletta, Keegan Christopher, and Marissa Broich. These directors will be assisted by South Tama High School drama students Kody Meyer, Aubrey Pansegrau, Wyatt Hintermeister and Talon Lamb.
The young thespians will be performing the new musical, The Unknowns Freak Out Roswell, on stage at the Wieting Theatre this Saturday, July 26. There will be an 11 a.m. show as well as a 2 p.m. performance.
Students gather for a group photo at the beginning of the Old Creamery Theatre’s Theatre Camp at the Wieting in Toledo on Monday morning, July 21. A production of “Unknown Freak Out Roswell” as listed on the marquee will have two shows on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Tickets are available for $5 for adults and $3 for children with concessions available before the show. Advanced tickets may be purchased at 9:45 a.m. or 2 p.m. on Friday.
Plan on attending The Unknowns Freak Out Roswell. You will be thoroughly entertained by the talent of our youth, and they will appreciate the support of their families, neighbors and teachers.
