Patrol identifies traffic victim at Vining

Dennis W. Ohlen 58, Chelsea, has been identified as the driver killed in a two vehicle head-on collision near Vining on Thursday morning, July 10, by the Iowa State Patrol. His 2002 Chevrolet Blazer collided with a pickup truck driven by Garrett M. Hoskey, 18, Toledo. The preliminary report states: BOTH VEHICLES VEERED TO THE EAST SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THEY COLLIEDED ON THE

SHOULDER COMING TO REST IN THE EAST DITCH on Tama County Road V18, just north of 300 Street north of Vining. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

EARLIER: Ambulances and fire departments from Elberon and Tama and the Vining Fire Department were dispatched to what was described as a two-vehicle head-on collision involving a fatality north of Vining on Tama County Road V18 near 300th Street about 10:30 a.m. today - Thursday, July 10. The Iowa State Patrol in Cedar Rapids told the Chronicle / News-Herald at 3:30 p.m. a report was forthcoming.
