Nathaniel James Moritz, 19, rural Chelsea, pled guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon in Tama County District Court on June 26. He was fined $625 and sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for 10 days already served by Tama County District Court Judge Fae Hoover-Grinde.
Moritz was charged in an incident at the Tama Skateboard Park on May 5 after allegedly telling a juvenile who was accompanying him in a vehicle to shoot a BB gun at an assembly of people in the park. One person was struck in the head according to the court record. That person was not seriously injured, Tama Police reported at the time. The charge was field by Tama Police Sgt. Jason Bina.
