Do you hate cancer as much as I do? Then, I am inviting you to join me in a letter-writing campaign for permission to open a cancer treatment facility within the new outpatient component of Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa.
What needs to be done? MMSC will submit a Certificate of Need to Iowa's State Health Facilities Council for permission to open a treatment facility. In order to qualify for this certificate, we will need 2,000 letters from residents in our surrounding counties that have had a personal connection with someone impacted by cancer. We are looking for your experiences, explanations and stories of travel time going to and from another location for treatment, difficulty with transportation and transportation costs, lodging, meals, discomfort and any other factors you feel would be valuable. You may use past and present time frames. Please also share this information with your family and friends who have been impacted by cancer in any way.
In addition, progressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments will be offered to patients in a compassionate and comfortable setting in the new facility.
Thank you for taking the time to read and act on this request.
Deadline for letters is Thursday, July 10.
