Week two of Summer Reading:

Tuesday June 17th was our second program for kids in 1st grade and up. Our presenter was Jason Dornbush from the Grout Museum Science Outreach Program. Jason presented a program titled "Colorful Chemistry". It was terrific!

Everyone had a great time exploring combustion; solids, liquids and gases; Acid and base solutions, eruption reactions and our favorite: liquid nitrogen. Brave volunteers ate crackers frozen, straight out of the liquid nitrogen and blew steam out their noses.

After Jason was finished the kids played the game, Stop the Zombies and made sunburst shaped fans. Our treats were suckers and Kool aide. This week's Tuesday drawing winners were: Maddalyn Brown, Ximena Carrera, Adriana Cervantes, Ashlynn Ellenbecker, Mariah Gilbert, Jaycie Graves, Kira Henle, Tristin Henle, Eric Henry, Arianna Herrera, Itzel Herrera, Emma Johannsen, Ella Kopsa, Kaden Kopsa, Noel Lloyd, Seth Lloyd, Jenna Meyer, Jimena Nunez, Jacob Ohman, Jonathan Ohman, Emma Lee Ragsdale, Jasmin Ramos, Missy Smith, Mariah Spinler, Laurel Upah, Joseph Withrow, and Selena Zapada. We had great helpers this week; Ben Bolen, Kellye Musel, Anne Michael, Sandy Cooper, Jaydee Thiessen, and Megan Jordan. Total attendance was 108.

The second program for the Preschool and Kindergarten kids was held Thursday June 19. We read The Little Yellow Leaf; Fletcher and the Falling Leaves; Leaves; Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf; and Leaf Man. For our craft we made leaf rubbings, played "Stop the Zombies" and had suckers and Kool-Aide for a snack.

This week's Thursday drawing winners were: Taylor Dolezal, Michael Henry, Madison Engler, Ayden Dunsmoor, Jonathan Ohman, Treyven Arp, Jimena Castro, Paloma Castro, Madison Cole, Rebecca Cole, Makaela Hill and Rayden Hill.

The thunderstorm kept some kids at home, but we still had a great time with those who made it. Total attendance at the Preschool and Kindergarten program was 20.
