Tama Co. Supervisors hear Conservation funds review

Robert Etzel, executive director of the Tama County Conservation Board, met with the Board of Supervisors on Monday, June 23, to request a transfer of funds from the General Basic Account to the Land Acquisition and Development (LAD) account. He also reviewed account activity.

This is done each year in June. Income received from crop rental of the Hansen Addition and the Reinig Tract came to $22,050.

The annual transfer to the LAD account-silt related was $14,400.

The end of the year projected balance being $20,701, for a total request of $57,151 to be deposited in the LAD account.

Etzel's projected ending balance shows Capital Projects of $26,954, Administration $2,000, Park Maintenance and operation at $31,000, Supply Fund of $308, and silt related project work at Otter Creek Lake at $14,400, Deposit into Machinery and Motor Vehicle Account $25,161 with a projected ending balance of $20,701.

Also before supervisors on Monday:

Fireworks permits were approved for the Town of Gladbrook for the Corn Carnival for Saturday, June 28 and for the Outback Campground, rural Tama, for the Fourth of July celebration.

Sheriff Dennis Kucera visited about some renovations to the jail. Approval was given for renovations to the cell floor and walls at the jail.

The Pony Express Riders (DD Rodeo) located in Howard township , was approved for a liquor license.

County Engineer Lyle Brehm told supervisors he had heard from low bids taken on two projects and anticipates getting paper work yet this week from the Department of Transportation. This would be for work West of Dinsdale and South West of Dysart. Brehm says contracts will be awarded for bridge replacements next week. The Bridge Crew will be working on a bridge two miles east of Highway 63. There are three bridges here, only one being worked on.

Brehm also told supervisors he had a request for a road vacation northwest of Gladbrook in Lincoln Township. Brehm said he would most likely have that request on the agenda next week to set a date for a hearing.

approval was given for changes in the Employee Handbook.

Claims approved for payment came to $409,426.
