Among filing requirements are a series of defense disclosures of expert reports by Nov. 12, change of venue motions by Dec 2, government expert reports by Dec. 15 and jury-related motions by Jan. 15, 2015.
The case was moved from Tama County District Court to federal court as jurisdiction in what it terms Indian Country can fall to federal enforcement.
Youngbear was first charged on Feb. 15 by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Detective Craig G. Karr. That complaint alleges Youngbear and the victim had been drinking and smoking meth over a period of about one and one-half days before the incident.
Youngbear has been in custody since being charged.
