The Trojan softball team reconvened with the South Hardin Tigers for a makeup game on Friday June 20.

Pitching for the Trojans was Sam Holtz with Catie Collins behind the plate. The Tigers got off to a quick start offensively with a hit by Mikayla Fisher to left field. With two runners on base Jenny Allen scored off of a bunt by Naomi England. Miquela Teske hit the ball to right field bringing Fisher home for a run. The Trojans squelched the Tiger offense with their third out at second with a throw from Madie Bacon to Maddie Baack.

Tori Appelgate started it off for the Trojans with a line drive to left field for a single. With one runner on base things were starting off nicely for the Trojans. With Baack and Holtz taking two quick outs, it appeared that it was going to be a quick inning for the Trojans. However the Trojans would rally and go on to score eight runs with two outs. It was really an impressive and exciting inning for the Trojans. STC was able to capitalize on three walks by pitcher Alaina Lake to go along with six hits. STC batted through their order and then some with Appelgate, Baack and Holtz seeing the plate twice in the first inning.

With the score 8-2, Holtz struck out two Tiger batters and a defensive stop by shortstop Hailee Weiss shut down any chance the Tigers had at closing the gap in the top of the second. The bottom of the second saw more defense, this time by the Tigers. Kallie Halla would produce one hit for the Trojans with Lake striking out three of STC's batters.

The game remained in a defensive deadlock until the bottom of the fifth. Again with two outs the Trojans would rally. Belle Tyynismaa was hit by Lake setting up the offense for the Trojans. With the top of the order up and Tyynismaa on first Appelgate hit a deep ball to center field for a triple. Tyynismaa hurried for home scoring the Trojans ninth run before Appelgate would get called out at third.

Holtz, who was pitching her best game of the season, was able to strike out the Tiger order in the top of the sixth, three up three down.

In the bottom of the sixth the Trojans were ready to put more runs on the board. With Lauren Yuska (pinch running for Baack) on first, Holtz hit to third and was called out at first but was credited with an RBI after Yuska scored. With the score 10-2, Weiss hit a single into center field. Bacon was then walked as Weiss was on third. Yet again with two outs, Halla hit a grounder to short and beat the throw to first bringing Weiss home and extending the Trojan lead to 11-2. This would be the final run put on the board for either team.

With two quick outs in the top of the seventh, including one out strikeout by Holtz, the Tigers weren't ready to give up. With the bases loaded Allen connected on a pitch from Holtz that Baack fielded and threw to Bacon for the final out of the game. The Trojans took home an 11-2 victory and completed a season sweep of the Tigers.

The Trojans worked well together as a whole unit on Friday and you could tell they were enjoying themselves. Coach Chelsea Ahrens credited this to having two days off after the weather postponed the game from the night before. "We talked about not sweating the small stuff or getting worried about a little error here and there and just having fun," said Ahrens. "That's what we really went back to because we are going to have successes when we are having fun."
