Throughout the two day period, over 5,000 Iowa FFA members, including South Tama, took part in packaging over 250,000 meals for Meals for the Heartland. FFA members beat that goal, as they packaged over 260,000 meals in two days.

Be The Seed

Along with 12 other FFA chapters around Iowa were awarded $2,500 "Be The Seed" grants. Partnering with the student group All-4-One, the STC FFA took their part and educated high school, elementary, and middle school students in an "Importance of Agriculture" expo.

The expo took place in the South Tama gymnasium in February.

At the Iowa FFA State Convention on April 28, Murray FFA was chosen as the overall state winner and received a grant of $5,000.

Nutrients For Life

Out of three finalists, South Tama FFA was state runner-up and won a $3,000 grant. In the greenhouse at the South Tama High school, they house two composting bins and took pictures and publicized their work.

In doing this, they informed and educated other students as well as some members in the community the importance of nutrients and recycling.
