Footloose Fridays kick-off in Toledo on June 6

The first summer Footloose Friday events will be on June 6 on the Tama County Courthouse Square in downtown Toledo. It's sponsored by the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Farmers Market begins at 5 p.m. with vendors already providing their popular offerings according to Market Master Dawn Troutner.

The Chamber will be serving a footlong hot dog meal beginning at 6 p.m. with just 300 available.

Also at 6 p.m., there will be Kids Sidewalk Chalk Competition. Cassie Sokol, Chamber coordinator, says children will be able to complete a chalk masterpiece for a chance to win a prize. Judging for this will begin at 8 p.m. Children will register that evening for this competition.

There will also be free balloon animals created for children.

On the bandstand, Clyde Purk and Paul Hala will be performing live from 6-8 p.m.

The evening will wrap up with a free movie showing on the square. Despicable Me 2 will be shown out of doors.

There will be free popcorn courtesy of The State Bank of Toledo and the South Tama Boosters Club will be selling other concessions.

Footloose Friday sponsors are US Postal Service, Bumblebees, Bohemian Mutual, Independent Insurance, JEV Winery, Kenkel Law Office, Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, State Bank of Toledo, Lincoln Savings Bank, Williams Manufacturing, Subway, Servicemaster and The Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald and Tama County Shopper.
