Stewardship Week Contest winners in Tama County

May 22, 2014
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

To help spread the message of Soil and Water Stewardship Week, April 27 - May 4, the Tama Soil & Water Conservation District recently held a grocery sack decorating contest in local schools. The activity was open to third, fourth and fifth grade students in the schools which chose to participate: Dysart-Geneseo, North Tama, Meskwaki Settlement, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, South Tama and Green Mountain-Garwin.

334 students created contest entries.

This year's theme is "Dig Deeper: Mysteries in the Soil." It emphasizes that soil is made of life and soil makes life.

Congratulations to all the winners! Look for the students' art work sharing the message of watersheds on renewable paper grocery sacks at Fareway in Toledo and other area stores.
