Welcome to Tama's 30th annual Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival

A flag raising ceremony at the Lincoln Highway Bridge Park on East 5th Stret and Business?Highway 30 is the kick-off event at 4:30 p.m. for the 30th annual Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival today and Saturday (May 16 and 17).

You can then taste cheese and sample wine at the Tama-Toledo Eagles Club or enjoy ice cream at the Tama Civic Center with proceeds to support the South Tama Baseball Club - that's two events that start off Friday night activities downtown.

Festival chair Sue Carnahan has put together some of the customary events along with some new and surprising ones which promise entertainment for all.

Merriam's Midway Shows has returned for the 62nd year in Tama sponsored by the Firefighters Association.

The Tri-County Community?Band. South High Jazz Band and Harding Street Singers will be providing entertainment along with the Tama Firefighters Association Tama Citizen of the?Year Award to Kenny McAdoo.

The winners of the Cherry Lake Photo Contest sponsored by the Tama Police?Department will be announced.

Saturday morning gets underway with the Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, a 5K?Run, the Grand Parade and a host of events, childrens activities and entertainment downtown. There's a Bean Bag Tournament at the Eagles, Vendor Fair at the Civic Center, Monster Arm Wrestling and more.

The day wraps up with a family movie to be shown at Oak Park on North McClellan street at 8:30 p.m.
